How the Blepharoplasty surgery is performed?
Basically there are two approaches by which Blepharoplasty surgery can be performed.
1. Scar less technique - In this technique the surgery is performed through the inside of the lower eyelid and hence is known as the scar-less technique.
2. Classic technique - This technique is used when there are many wrinkles under the lower eyelid. In this technique the cut is made just under the eyelashes and the extra fat and the wrinkles are removed.
Blepharoplasty surgery is undertaken under the local anesthesia . To remove the extra skin the fine cut is made under the upper lids - where the eyes fold naturally. Sutures are placed in crease and they become invisible in some weeks. If there is fat under the eye then to rectify it a cut is made under the lower eyelid, the fat is then removed and the eye can be left for healing naturally.
When the surgery is completed the surgeon can put the bandage. It is not necessary that the eyes however to avoid the dryness in the eye some balm/cream can be used. If there is some swelling then do not panic, consult the surgeon and he/she may prescribe some medicine to you.
